Decorative scarf DIY – step by step tutorial

Spring is coming up so I’ve prepared something just for this perfect time – some colorful and fun scarves. These handmade accessories are very decorative, original, and they will enliven every single bag. They are also very easy to make – even beginners will handle it. You will need only 2 pieces of fabric, basic sewing tools, 15 minutes (or less) and DONE !
And… you can also use this scarf as a scrunchie scarf (scrunchie step by step tutorial you can find here).
For one scarf you will need:
- 2 pieces of fabric 70 x 10 cm (28 x 4 inches)
- sewing machine and basic sewing tools
- a chopstick (as a chopstick you can use a brush handle for example)
Materials: you can use many types of fabric, but the fabric shouldn’t be too thick. For beginners thin cotton will be the best.
Finished size – about 67 cm (27 inches).
To make the scarf follow the step by step instruction shown in the diagram below.
Don’t forget to backstitch at the beginning and at the end of all your stitching! Backstitching: means securing the beginning and end of a machine stitched seam, in order to not damaging the seam. Start with sewing forward three stitches. Then go back to the beginning and now sew forward to the end of the seam. When you get to the end of the seam, go back for about three stitches and then go forward three stitches again.
