Patchwork scrunchies DIY

Make use of fabric scraps!

This simple patchwork project is a great opportunity to use even small scraps of fabric – for one patchwork scrunchie you will need 12 scraps.  It can be a great fun – you can combine different colors and patterns to create some unique handmade hair accessories.

For one patchwork scrunchie you will need:

  • 12 pieces of fabric 5 x 12 cm (2 x 5 inches)
  • an elastic – 18 cm (7 inches) length
  • 2 safety pins

Materials: you can use many types of fabric. I prefer thin fabrics and I avoid slippery ones (because of that they tend to slide out of the hair). If you are the beginner – I would recommend to start with cotton.

STEP 1

Cut out 12 pieces of fabric 5 x 12 cm (2 x 5 inches).

For example: cut out 6 pieces of the one fabric and 6 pieces of the contrasting fabric.

Sew these pieces together one by one, as shown in the picture below. Seam allowance 1/4 inch (1/2 cm).

Now, follow the instruction of these casual scrunchies sewing tutorial (START FROM THE STEP 2 TILL 5). If you follow this step-by-step instruction, you will make the scrunchies as shown in the pictures below.
