Stuffed snake – pattern and tutorial

Hello,
If you are looking for an easy toy sewing pattern – you’ve come to the right place. Following this step-by-step instruction you can make a soft and friendly snake – fun gift for children all year round, especially if you sew it from colourful fabrics. Have fun!
For one snake you will need:
- head – piece of fabric 15 x 15 cm (6 x 6 inches)
- body – piece of fabric 50 x 15 cm (20 x 6 inches)
- red or orange ribbon for tongue – 10 cm (4 inches)
- 2 small buttons for eyes
- pillow stuffing
- chopstick
Finished size – about 60 cm (24 inches).
Suggested material – cotton
STEP 1
Cut out 2 pieces of fabric.
Put the head and body pieces right sides together and sew. Seam allowance 1 cm (3/8 inch).
STEP 2
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, with right sides together. Sew along the long edge, but leave about 10 cm (4 inches) opening in the center of the snake. Seam allowance 1 cm (3/8 inch).
Turn the fabric so the sew is in the middle.
STEP 3
Fold the ribbon wrong sides together. On the head end of the snake, place a piece of a ribbon on the right side of the fabric and sew near the edge of the fabric.
STEP 4
Now, on the both ends of the snake draw lines as shown in the picture.
Sew on these lines (with right sides together so the tongue is inside) and then cut around the sewing line, leaving a 5 mm (1/4 inch) seam allowance.
STEP 5
Gently turn the snake right side out and use a chopstick to get the corners out.
Fill your snake with the pillow stuffing and use a hand stitch to close the opening.
Then, sew two buttons for the eyes. Now, your snake is ready to ssssss…..lither.
With friends…
